CELEBRATING 200 YEARS
- The Murphysboro United Methodist Church has been a continually serving congregation for 200 years!!
- A Homecoming/Anniversary Celebration is planned for Sunday, June 8, 2025
- Bishop Alan Bard will be delivering the sermon at our
10 a.m. service (Note time change is for Sunday the 8th only)
- After the service we will be dedicating a marker from the Illinois State Historical Society on the front lawn.
- At 11:30 we will gather in the Fellowship Hall for a Fried Chicken Dinner furnished by the church.
We sincerely hope that you can make plans to join us for this special day. We have much to celebrate. As it is written in Romans 15:4 “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”

New Ministry Coming to MUMC

Transportation Assistance.
We all need some help from time to time (and sometimes it is difficult to ask), so we would like to make that a little easier. If you are able to provide transportation for individuals to and from medical appointments, please sign up on the attendance pad. This will allow us to compile a list of those individuals who are willing and able to provide this type of vital support. By showing this type of care and concern for your church family you will be blessing someone else, and you will surely be blessed in return.
You may also call the office to let them know you are willing to help or Michelle Parker-Clark for more information.

Bible Study

June 13th 10am
On Friday, June 13, a Bible study entitled “From Original Intent to Today’s Meaning: Navigating Biblical Interpretation,” will be co-led by Rev. Angie Lee and Pastor Michelle Parker-Clark. The study will explore how you engage with the Bible, and various approaches for reading and interpreting Scripture contextually. In addition, we will discuss four important questions. 1. Why can we not have one ‘plain’ and ‘objective’ meaning of the Bible? 2. How has the Bible come to us? 3. How can we find out what was the original intent of the words of the Bible? 4. What does the Bible mean to us now? The study is open to adults of all ages, and will be held in Room 204 beginning at 10:00 am and concluding at noon with a lite lunch in the MUMC Fellowship Hall.
